Imran Khan Undergoes Medical Examination at Adiala Jail

A special medical team examined former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Sunday, according to jail authorities. The examination was completed inside the prison as part of continuing medical monitoring of the incarcerated political leader.

The team included doctors from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Shifa Eye Hospital and was led by PIMS doctor Arif Khan. Medical personnel from the Adiala Jail hospital also assisted during the assessment, according to the official account released after the visit.

Authorities said the examination included checks of Khan's blood pressure, cholesterol levels and eyesight. The medical team completed its assessment and subsequently left the jail. The latest assessment follows a series of medical examinations carried out during Khan's incarceration. In August, the Supreme Court ordered that he be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for medical assessment and treatment after reviewing material concerning his medical care. Authorities later took him to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences instead, with government officials citing security considerations and saying doctors associated with Shifa were also present.

Khan was returned to Adiala Jail after that hospital examination. Government representatives said at the time that the required medical checks had been performed, while the episode also led to further legal proceedings concerning the implementation of court directions and the medical facilities available to prisoners.

Medical care for Khan has remained under judicial and public scrutiny during 2026. Previous court proceedings have examined his access to specialist doctors, hospital treatment and medical records, while jail authorities have periodically submitted reports describing consultations conducted by medical professionals. Sunday's visit therefore represents another documented examination rather than an announced change in his custody arrangements.
