The Sindh government has decided to limit pick-and-drop access at Karachi’s airport, allowing no more than two people to accompany a passenger, as part of stepped-up security arrangements.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting focused on security threats, chaired by the provincial home minister. Senior officials including the home secretary and the inspector general of police attended and provided briefings on the prevailing situation.
Officials said the measure is aimed at reducing overcrowding and improving control in and around airport premises, citing the need for stricter precautions in light of past incidents and accidents.
The home minister also directed relevant departments to draft detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure faster and more coordinated response at any incident site, while confirming that pick-and-drop will be restricted to one or two attendants.
