Russian drones hit Ukraine train station; 1 dead, ~30 injured

Two Russian drones struck trains at the railway station in Shostka, in Ukraine’s northern Sumy region, killing one person and injuring about 30, officials said Saturday. President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of deliberately targeting civilians and posted footage of mangled rail cars as emergency teams responded. Ukraine’s foreign ministry denounced what it called a “double-strike” tactic designed to hit rescuers after the initial blast. The region’s governor said at least eight of the injured were taken to hospital. Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, the head of Ukraine’s state rail company, told reporters the drones appeared to hunt for locomotives and damaged attached carriages, hitting a commuter service and another train bound for Kyiv. He argued the attacks aimed to make frontline and border communities feel unsafe using public transport. Russia denies intentionally striking civilians, but Kyiv says railway infrastructure has been attacked almost daily in recent weeks.
