RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi City Traffic Police have intensified enforcement against vehicles and motorcycles displaying “Applied For”, fake, or non-standard number plates across the district.
Officials said special checking points have been established at key entry and exit routes, while mobile enforcement teams are conducting targeted operations in different localities to identify violators.
Authorities reported that 1,755 challans were issued during the current month to vehicles found with “Applied For” or numberless plates.
Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam directed officers to issue tickets and impound vehicles using such plates. Vehicles will be released only after owners complete proper registration.
The traffic police also warned of strict legal action against counterfeit or fabricated plates, stressing that number plates serve as a vehicle’s legal identity and concealing or altering them is a violation. Motorists were urged to register vehicles on time and use plates that meet prescribed specifications.
