Google has introduced a beta capability for its Gemini app called “Personal Intelligence,” aimed at generating more personalised, context-aware responses by connecting to a user’s own Google services.

The feature links tools such as Gmail, Google Photos and YouTube so Gemini can draw on relevant context—like information in emails or details inferred from stored memories—to respond more specifically to a user’s questions.

The report frames the rollout as part of intensifying competition in personal AI assistants, including comparisons with Apple’s growing AI ecosystem. It adds that Google is initially making the feature available to US subscribers on its Google AI Pro and AI Ultra tiers, with controls for choosing which apps to connect.

Addressing privacy concerns, the company says it does not train its core models directly on personal Gmail or Photos content and that access is limited, with feedback mechanisms intended to improve reliability as the feature expands to other products, including Search.
