Key points
- Gold gained Rs13,900 to reach Rs426,036 per tola in Pakistan, while the 10-gram rate increased by Rs11,917 to Rs365,257.
- International gold rose to $4,035 per ounce, and local silver advanced by Rs295 to Rs5,663 per tola.
Gold prices rose sharply in Pakistan on Wednesday, with the benchmark rate for one tola increasing by Rs13,900 to Rs426,036. The domestic increase followed a strong advance in the international bullion market and reversed the unchanged pricing recorded locally a day earlier.
The rate for 10 grams of gold climbed by Rs11,917 to Rs365,257, according to figures issued by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association. The corresponding previous rate was Rs353,340 for 10 grams, while one tola had been priced at Rs412,136 on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s increase represents a rise of approximately 3.4 per cent in the per-tola benchmark within a single trading day. The matching movement in both the tola and 10-gram rates indicates that the adjustment was applied consistently across the two standard measurements commonly reported in Pakistan’s bullion market.
International gold increased by $139 to reach $4,035 per ounce. Based on the previous reported level of $3,896, the global price advanced by about 3.6 per cent. The local and international movements were therefore closely aligned in percentage terms, supporting the association’s explanation that the Pakistani increase followed gains in the global market.
Silver also recorded a substantial increase in Pakistan. Its price rose by Rs295 to Rs5,663 per tola, compared with Rs5,368 a day earlier. This amounts to an increase of roughly 5.5 per cent, meaning silver posted a larger percentage gain than gold during the same session.
The updated association rates provide a daily benchmark for Pakistan’s precious-metals market, but they can change when international bullion prices or currency-market conditions move. Buyers and sellers should therefore confirm the prevailing rate at the time of a transaction instead of relying on an earlier daily quotation.
The scale of Wednesday’s movement is particularly relevant for households planning jewellery purchases and investors tracking gold as a store of value. At the revised benchmark, purchasing one tola requires Rs13,900 more than it did on Tuesday, while a 10-gram purchase costs Rs11,917 more before any transaction-specific charges are considered.
The next domestic adjustment will depend on subsequent movements in international gold and the pricing data released by the market association. For now, the reported figures place gold at Rs426,036 per tola, 10-gram gold at Rs365,257 and silver at Rs5,663 per tola.
