Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) approved an increase of up to 7.14% in natural gas tariffs for the current fiscal year, reversing an earlier indication of an 8% across-the-board reduction.
The decision raises Sui Southern Gas Company’s tariff by 7.14% and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited’s by 4.89%, translating into additions of Rs118.47 and Rs86.30 per mmBtu, respectively. The revised average prices come to Rs1,777.02 per mmBtu for SSGC and Rs1,852.80 for SNGPL. Ogra said it previously allowed Rs60.88 billion in shortfall adjustments and has asked the federal government for category-wise sale price advice; until then, existing consumer slabs remain in force.
Separately, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik directed the utilities to ensure uninterrupted winter supply. In a seasonal load-management meeting, officials reviewed gas availability and RLNG domestic connections, with the minister noting supply is better than last year.
