Security forces killed at least 20 militants in two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military's media wing (ISPR) said. The engagements, carried out between November 8 and 9, targeted what officials described as Indian-sponsored elements of the group it labels Fitna al-Khwarij.
In the first action in Shawal, North Waziristan, troops struck a militant hideout and eliminated eight fighters. A second operation in Dara Adam Khel led to an intense gunfight in which 12 more were neutralised. Follow-on sanitisation is underway to clear remaining threats and secure the area, ISPR added.
The statement framed the actions under the continuing counterterrorism push "Azm-e-Istehkam," approved by the apex committee on the National Action Plan. Officials said Pakistan has faced an uptick in cross-border attacks since 2021 and vowed operations would continue at full pace to dismantle foreign-sponsored networks.
Authorities have previously reported hundreds of incidents and significant casualties among civilians and security personnel this year, particularly in KP and Balochistan. The latest operations, they said, are part of a broader, sustained approach to degrade militant infrastructure and restore stability.
