Security forces killed seven militants during an intelligence-based operation in Sherani district of Balochistan, the military’s media wing said. According to ISPR, the operation targeted the reported presence of fighters linked to an Indian-backed proxy, identified as Fitna al-Khwarij or the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. Troops engaged the hideout and recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the site.

A sanitisation operation was under way to clear the area of any remaining threats, ISPR added. The statement reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces remain determined to eliminate terrorism and bring perpetrators and facilitators to justice.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the forces for the successful action and vowed that the state would defeat militancy. The development came days after a suicide blast near the FC headquarters in Quetta that claimed multiple lives, underscoring the persistent security challenge in the province.
