CRSS: Pakistan’s violence up 46% in Q3, KP and Balochistan hardest hit

Pakistan recorded a 46% rise in overall violence in the third quarter of 2025, according to new data from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS). The report cites 329 incidents—ranging from militant attacks to counterterrorism operations—resulting in at least 901 fatalities and 599 injuries among civilians, security personnel, and militants.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan bore the brunt, accounting for more than 96% of the violence. CRSS figures indicate 57% of those killed were militants, 24% were civilians, and 18% were security personnel. Compared with the previous quarter, fatalities among militants rose by more than half, with civilian and security-force deaths also climbing.

The report says the year to date is nearly as deadly as all of 2024, with 2,414 fatalities already tallied. It notes that while security operations were fewer than militant attacks, they caused nearly as many deaths, underscoring the intensity of ongoing counterterrorism efforts. Recent high-profile incidents include a suicide attack near the Frontier Corps headquarters in Quetta, where multiple assailants were killed after security forces responded.
