Polling is under way in the NA-77 Gujranwala-I and PP-203 Sahiwal-VI constituencies, where voters are choosing representatives in by-elections triggered by the deaths of the sitting lawmakers.

The NA-77 seat became vacant after the death of former federal minister and five-time MNA Chaudhry Mehmood Bashir Virk. His son, Rashid Bashir Warraich, is contesting the National Assembly seat for the PML-N alongside other candidates.

Election authorities have established 333 polling stations in NA-77, including separate facilities for male and female voters as well as combined polling locations. A total of 963 polling booths have been set up across the constituency.

In PP-203 Chichawatni, the by-election follows the death of Punjab Assembly member Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif Jutt. The PML-N has nominated Chaudhry Asad Hanif Jutt, while several independent candidates are also in the contest.

PP-203 has 258,122 registered voters and 185 polling stations. Authorities have deployed polling staff, police personnel and reserve units as part of arrangements to maintain order and facilitate voters during the process.

The contests will determine who fills the vacant National Assembly and Punjab Assembly seats. Voting is scheduled to continue until 5pm without a break, after which counting and consolidation of results will begin under Election Commission procedures.
