Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has removed Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgen from his post after intermediate computer science examinations in the district were postponed ahead of her scheduled visit on November 10.
The papers, part of the Intermediate Second Annual Examinations 2026, had been deferred following a request from the district administration. The request cited the expected deployment of administrative and security staff for the chief minister’s visit and concerns about managing the examinations alongside official arrangements.
Maryam said the postponement ran contrary to her instructions that visits to districts must not inconvenience residents or interrupt public activity. She announced that the deputy commissioner had been removed with immediate effect.
The chief minister subsequently shared the transfer notification directing Ozgen to report to Punjab’s Services and General Administration Department for further orders. She also ordered that the affected examinations be held on their original date, November 10.
Maryam said administrative arrangements should not interfere with students’ examinations. She further instructed regional and district officials to avoid unnecessary restrictions on markets, businesses, roads and residential areas during her visits.
The move places responsibility on district administrations to keep security arrangements discreet while ensuring public services, commercial activity and educational schedules continue without disruption.
