Government signals relief on petrol prices in Pakistan

The government has announced relief on petrol prices, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif saying the decision was made in line with the administration’s commitment to ease pressure on the public during difficult economic conditions.

According to ProPakistani, the prime minister said the government would continue to extend relief wherever possible despite rising geopolitical tensions in the region and the resulting pressure on the global economy. He added that authorities are relying on timely policy decisions, austerity measures and financial discipline to manage the broader economic challenge.

Sharif also said Pakistan currently has sufficient crude oil supplies to meet domestic requirements due to the work of the country’s diplomatic and economic teams. Federal and provincial authorities, he said, are coordinating to ensure that retailers do not charge above officially notified fuel prices.
