The Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions (DGPC) has issued show-cause notices to three exploration and production companies over alleged violations of petroleum rules.
According to information shared with the National Assembly, the notices were served on July 18, 2025, to Jura Energy Corporation, Frontier Holdings Limited, and Spud Energy Pty Limited under the Pakistan Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Rules, 1986 and 2001.
Officials said the relevant rules require a formal show-cause process and an opportunity to respond before any exploration licence can be suspended or revoked.
The companies have been asked to submit written explanations and supporting documents, after which the regulator will assess whether the alleged breaches can be rectified or compensated under the law.
The report said the matter had remained before the Islamabad High Court for months, and on February 6, 2026, the court directed the regulator to proceed with the process while ensuring a fair hearing. Any final action would follow completion of due process.
