China condemns Islamabad blast, backs Pakistan’s anti-terror efforts

China condemned the deadly attack on an Islamabad imambargah and said it stands with Pakistan in efforts to protect public safety and maintain national stability. In an official statement, Beijing said it was shocked by the explosion and expressed condolences to the families of those killed, as well as solidarity with the injured.

The condemnation followed a suicide attack at Imambargah and Mosque Khadijat-ul-Kubra in Islamabad’s Tarlai area during Friday prayers, which left dozens dead and many others injured. Investigators said the attacker opened fire and then detonated explosives at the entrance of the imambargah.

Authorities said investigators recovered identification details at the scene and traced the suspect’s background, while the broader probe continued. Separately, Pakistan’s foreign office said Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with Turkiye’s foreign minister, who conveyed condolences and reaffirmed support after the tragedy.

Officials said investigations were ongoing, with law enforcement sharing preliminary findings about the attack and the materials used, as Pakistan continued operations against militant networks.
