ISLAMABAD: US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker said the US Export-Import (Exim) Bank’s recently approved financing for Pakistan’s critical minerals sector will enable up to $2 billion worth of US mining equipment and services for the Reko Diq project. In a video message, she highlighted a $1.25 billion approval that she said would catalyse future deliveries and partnerships.

The diplomat said the financing could generate thousands of jobs in both countries and framed Reko Diq as a model for future mining ventures that support local communities while benefiting US exporters. The remarks follow Exim’s broader plans to deploy large-scale funding to secure allied supply chains for critical minerals and energy.

Baker expressed optimism about further deals between American and Pakistani firms in the sector, describing the initiative as one that aims to deliver shared prosperity.
