Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a package of electricity initiatives for Gwadar and Gilgit-Baltistan, including an immediate 100MW solar power project in GB, to stabilise supply and lower costs.
Chairing a meeting on power-sector measures, the premier directed relevant ministries to deliver uninterrupted, affordable energy for Gwadar Port City and its industries. Officials briefed that outages in Gwadar have already fallen and that additional short- and long-term solar capacity will be added, with voltage stabilisation targeted within months.
The plan, which spans rooftop and utility-scale solar components and phased projects through 2027, is framed as central to attracting investment and supporting regional economic growth.
