On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s support for Palestinians’ right to self-determination and for an independent state based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital.
In separate statements, the leaders condemned civilian suffering in Gaza and urged sustained ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian access and accountability for violations of international law. The prime minister called a forthcoming high-level conference on the two-state solution a ‘real opportunity’ to reset the peace process.
Pakistan, they said, will continue political, diplomatic, humanitarian and moral assistance for Palestinians and maintain advocacy at the UN, OIC, ICJ and other forums.
