ISLAMABAD: A coalition of six opposition parties operating under the Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) banner demanded an inquiry into alleged economic irregularities referenced in the IMF’s recent Governance and Corruption Diagnostic Assessment.
At a joint press conference, former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair and PTI’s Taimur Khan Jhagra criticised the government for remaining silent and for delaying the report’s public release. They argued the IMF assessment highlights corruption concerns and political pressure on institutions, which they say is deterring investment and eroding confidence.
The leaders called for transparency, parliamentary oversight, and broad-based accountability. They urged the government to explain the publication delay, to commit to governance reforms recommended in the report, and to open a formal probe into the issues the lender identified.
