Karachi Shootings Leave Two Dead as Police Hunt Suspects

KARACHI: Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents in Karachi that left two people dead and another person injured, with searches underway for suspects who fled after the attacks. One of the cases involves the killing of an 18-year-old woman in Orangi Town, while the second shooting occurred near Dubai House in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

In Orangi Town Sector 10, an 18-year-old woman identified as Zarqa Bibi was shot dead. Police described the case as a suspected honour-related killing and said their initial investigation indicated that her brother was allegedly involved. Investigators have not announced a final conclusion about the motive, and the allegation remains subject to the ongoing inquiry.

The suspected attacker escaped following the shooting, prompting police to begin efforts to locate and arrest him. Zarqa Bibi's body was transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where medico-legal procedures were initiated. Police said further investigation would continue as officers work to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and gather evidence relevant to the case.

A separate shooting was reported near Dubai House in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Police said four armed suspects opened fire on two men before leaving the scene. Twenty-five-year-old Abbas was killed in the attack, while 17-year-old Abdul Malik suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators said Abbas and Abdul Malik originally belonged to Jacobabad and had moved to Karachi around eight months ago. According to the preliminary police account, the suspects in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar shooting are believed to be relatives of the victims. Police are examining whether a personal dispute may have been behind the attack, but the investigation has not yet reached a final determination.

A crime scene unit reached the area after authorities were informed of the shooting and collected evidence for examination. Abbas's body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem procedures, while Abdul Malik remained under medical care for his injuries. Investigators are expected to use evidence from the scene, witness accounts and other available information to identify those responsible and establish the sequence of events.

The immediate focus in both cases is on tracing the suspects and completing the medico-legal and investigative processes. Police have not announced arrests in either incident so far. Further findings, including any confirmed motive in the Orangi Town killing and additional details about the alleged personal dispute in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, are expected as the investigations progress.
