Four Villagers Killed in Lakki Marwat Terror Attack

Four villagers were killed in a terrorist attack in the Jabbarkhel area of Lakki Marwat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said, in another deadly incident highlighting the continuing security strain in parts of the province. The attack took place within the jurisdiction of Saddar police station and prompted an immediate investigation by local law enforcement authorities.

Police identified the deceased as Jumma Khan, his son Adnan, Waseem and Naimat. Their bodies were shifted to Government City Hospital, where medico-legal formalities were completed before they were handed over to relatives. The killings have caused fear and grief in the area, where residents have repeatedly faced the consequences of militant violence and insecurity.

According to accounts from some villagers, the attackers also took away weapons belonging to the deceased before fleeing the scene. Investigators are now examining the circumstances of the assault, including whether the victims were specifically targeted or whether the killings were connected to wider militant activity in the region.

Police officials said an investigation had been launched after the incident. While authorities have not yet announced arrests directly linked to the Lakki Marwat killings, the attack has added urgency to security operations in nearby districts where police and other law enforcement agencies have been pursuing suspected militants and their facilitators.

In a related security development, police arrested 10 suspects during a search-and-strike operation in Karak district’s Sabirabad area. District Police Officer Imran Khan said the action was carried out after credible information suggested the presence of miscreants and facilitators in rural hideouts. A large police contingent, supported by Elite Force and Quick Response Force personnel, took part in the operation.

The DPO said one proclaimed offender and nine alleged facilitators were taken into custody and shifted to a police station for further action. He added that the proclaimed offender was wanted in serious criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder and kidnapping. Police also recovered arms and ammunition during the operation and registered cases against the arrested men.

The latest violence comes at a sensitive time as authorities prepare security arrangements for Muharram across vulnerable districts. In Lakki Marwat, district administration officials and security personnel inspected key sites, including an imambargah, checkpoints and a command and control room, to review deployment plans and emergency response measures before mourning processions begin.

For residents of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, such incidents reinforce concerns about personal safety, movement and public gatherings. Terror attacks in rural areas not only take lives but also disrupt schools, markets, transport and local livelihoods, especially when families fear further violence or retaliation after an incident.

The next phase of the case will depend on police findings, intelligence leads and any arrests linked to the Jabbarkhel attack. Authorities are expected to continue search operations in vulnerable areas as they try to prevent further violence, protect Muharram gatherings and reassure communities that militants will not be allowed to exploit local insecurity.
