Punjab authorities are preparing to raise penalties for traffic violations on the Lahore Ring Road as part of a broader effort to improve road safety and enforcement. A proposal has already been forwarded to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for approval, and officials say overspeeding fines are likely to increase from the current level of Rs500.
The plan also includes the creation of a modern command and control centre under the Lahore Ring Road Authority. The facility is expected to use AI-enabled cameras to detect speeding and other violations in real time.
Officials said the new monitoring setup would oversee more than 150,000 vehicles each day. The project, estimated at Rs871 million, is intended to strengthen traffic discipline, improve security, and expand automated enforcement on one of Lahore’s busiest corridors.
