Pakistan's Airports Authority directed carriers operating from the country to depart with only the minimum required fuel after regional turmoil disrupted supplies of Jet Fuel A-1.
The authority said airlines should refuel as much as possible at foreign airports, while the related notice will stay in force through March 31. The measure follows sharp increases in jet fuel prices in Pakistan and wider concerns tied to the Middle East conflict and shipping disruptions.
In a separate advisory, the authority also announced temporary operational restrictions for March 16. Six sectors of Lahore's flight information region will be closed for a limited period, and commercial flights will not be allowed to land or depart from Islamabad airport between 8:30am and 10:30am, with pilots told to keep extra fuel reserves in case of airborne holding.
