Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority warned that rain and snowfall in the north could trigger landslides, avalanches and disruptions to travel through March 16.
Officials said the weather system is expected to affect Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Areas including Gilgit, Astore, Diamer, Skardu, Hunza, Ghizer and Shigar are forecast to receive rain or snow, while parts of Azad Kashmir such as Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, Kotli, Bhimber and Neelum Valley may also be impacted.
The agency said thunderstorms are likely in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam and Battagram. It cautioned that higher temperatures combined with precipitation could raise the risk of glacial lake outburst floods in vulnerable districts, while mountain routes such as the Karakoram Highway could face blockages from landslides.
