Pakistan has launched a new feeder shipping service linking Karachi Port with the United Arab Emirates, a move the government says will strengthen transshipment capability and improve trade access. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said the service will connect Karachi with the UAE ports of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan.
According to Geo News, the service will operate through Karachi Gateway Terminal and is intended to provide Pakistani importers and exporters with steadier access to global container shipping networks during a period of changing regional maritime conditions. The first vessel in the service arrived at the terminal on March 11, marking the beginning of regular operations.
Officials said the new route should support supply-chain continuity and help Pakistan’s trading community stay connected to international markets. Cargo moving through the UAE hubs is also expected to benefit from advanced logistics and onward links to regional and global destinations.
