Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have been briefed that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi intends to proceed strictly in line with established legal procedures and will not offer any exceptional relief outside the framework of law.
According to party sources, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan met the chief justice and later briefed senior party figures. The sources said the CJP underscored that matters related to PTI founder Imran Khan’s health should be pursued through the appropriate legal forum.
The PTI leadership had sought swift relief directly from the Supreme Court instead of continuing proceedings in the Islamabad High Court. The party has been seeking permission for Imran Khan to be shifted to a hospital of its choice in Islamabad and for his personal doctors to examine him in jail.
On the same day, the Supreme Court returned a PTI petition requesting that Imran Khan be moved to Shifa International Hospital for specialised eye assessment and treatment by retina specialists. The filing also sought access for his personal physicians, Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Asim Yousaf, and requested that his family be kept informed and allowed reasonable access during medical procedures.
The petition was returned after objections were raised by the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office, which referred to an earlier court order indicating the petitioner should approach the relevant forum—namely the Islamabad High Court—where the matter is pending.
