The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced the creation of an “Imran Khan Release Force”, describing it as a new organisational platform aimed at pushing for the release of the party’s jailed founder and former prime minister.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court, said he had been tasked by the incarcerated PTI leader to lead a street movement. He alleged that court directives were not being implemented and claimed that access to Imran Khan’s personal doctors was still being restricted.
Afridi said the new force would be formally registered and would pursue what he called a peaceful struggle. He added that members would take an oath in Peshawar immediately after Eid ul Fitr and that the group would operate with a defined chain of command.
The report noted that PTI has intensified its campaign following the disclosure in a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court about serious vision impairment in Imran Khan’s right eye. Government representatives, however, maintain he is receiving appropriate medical care.
