ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said at least 12 terrorists linked to an India-backed proxy were killed during an attack targeting a joint security check post in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 11 security personnel were martyred.
According to the military’s media wing, militants attempted to breach the perimeter of a joint post operated by security forces and law enforcement agencies. The attempt was repelled through a swift response, but the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the perimeter wall.
ISPR said the explosion caused major damage to a nearby civilian residential building, resulting in the death of a young girl and injuries to seven others, including women and children.
The statement added that Pakistan has faced an uptick in cross-border terrorism incidents in recent years, with KP and Balochistan among the worst-hit regions due to their proximity to the Afghanistan border.
