SC says PTI memo on Imran Khan access sent to executive authorities

The Supreme Court says a memorandum submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders about access to their imprisoned party chief and the provision of medical reports has been forwarded to the relevant executive authorities for consideration under the law.

According to a statement attributed to the court’s public relations office, PTI parliamentarians had earlier raised concerns outside the Supreme Court, after which the registrar engaged with their representatives and assured that the matter would be brought to the chief justice’s attention. The statement said that since the concerns were not directly tied to a case pending before the court, the issue was referred onward for action by the executive side.

The statement added that PTI leaders again approached the court on February 6 with a signed memorandum, which was formally received and subsequently sent to executive authorities once more.

The Supreme Court also announced standard operating procedures for handling such situations in the future, emphasizing accessibility and facilitation—such as basic amenities and emergency medical cover—while maintaining institutional order and ensuring other litigants’ access is not affected.

The development comes amid repeated PTI protests over access to the jailed leader, who has been in custody since 2023 and faces multiple cases.
