Imran Khan’s medical report details eye condition and procedure

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s family has received his medical report from Adiala jail authorities, according to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.

The report relates to a recent eye-related medical intervention after Khan was taken from Central Jail Rawalpindi (Adiala) to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The minister previously said the hospital procedure took around 20 minutes, while PTI had criticised what it described as a lack of transparency around the matter.

According to the PIMS assessment, Khan reported reduced vision in his right eye. A senior ophthalmologist conducted an examination at the jail, including detailed eye checks and related testing, and concluded that Khan was suffering from right central retinal vein occlusion. Hospital-based follow-up care was recommended.

The report states that Khan was then brought to PIMS for the advised procedure, which was conducted in an operation theatre under standard sterile protocols and monitoring. It adds that the intervention was completed smoothly in approximately 20 minutes and that the patient remained stable.

The document further notes that Khan was discharged with routine post-procedure instructions. The medical report was issued by PIMS Executive Director Professor Dr Rana Imran Sikandar.
