Pakistan joins Trump’s Gaza ‘Board of Peace’, backs ceasefire and aid push

Pakistan announced it will join US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace,” saying it wants to contribute to stability in Gaza and support implementation of a Gaza peace framework referenced by the Foreign Office under a UN Security Council resolution.

Islamabad said it hopes the initiative leads to concrete steps toward a permanent ceasefire, a significant increase in humanitarian assistance, and the reconstruction of Gaza. The Foreign Office added that any lasting settlement should culminate in Palestinian self-determination through a credible, time-bound political process, resulting in an independent and contiguous Palestinian state on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The report notes the US-brokered ceasefire arrangement has struggled to move beyond an initial phase, with continued violence and unresolved details for later stages that would include further withdrawals, disarmament commitments, and an internationally backed administration for rebuilding.

Trump has floated the idea that the Board of Peace could eventually rival the UN’s role, while also saying the UN should continue. The White House has publicly named several figures associated with the board and related efforts.
