Actor Walker Scobell says portraying Percy Jackson remains a high-pressure job, even after gaining experience through multiple seasons of Disney+’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”
Scobell, 17, plays the lead role adapted from Rick Riordan’s bestselling novels. Season one debuted in late 2023 when he was 14, the second season returned recently, and the production is already moving ahead with a third season.
In a recent interview, Scobell said the responsibility of playing such a widely recognised character hasn’t faded. He explained that he still wants to get it right for fans and views the part as a major obligation.
He added that Riordan’s close involvement as a writer and producer is reassuring, because changes are made with the creator’s oversight — something he feels keeps the portrayal anchored in the original identity of Percy.
Scobell also reflected on how quickly the opportunity followed his film breakthrough in “The Adam Project,” and described joining a major franchise universe as rare and exciting.
He has also connected with Logan Lerman, who played Percy in earlier film versions, and the two have stayed in touch. New episodes of the series continue to roll out weekly on Disney+.
