LAKKI MARWAT/BANNU: Four police personnel were killed in two separate shooting incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, according to police.
In Lakki Marwat’s Sarai Naurang, attackers riding a motorcycle opened fire on traffic police staff, killing three officials on the spot. The fallen officers were identified as Traffic Police In-charge Naurang Jalal Khan and constables Azizullah and Abdullah. Police said the assailants escaped and a search operation was launched as the bodies were moved to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for required legal procedures.
In a second incident in Bannu, a constable was shot dead in the Mandan area. Police said Constable Rashid Khan was attacked while travelling from home to report for duty at the Mandan Police Station.
The attacks come amid a renewed rise in violence targeting law enforcement in KP and Balochistan in recent years. Officials also referenced earlier incidents in late 2025 and 2024 in which police vehicles came under militant fire.
A recent annual security assessment cited KP as the province facing the heaviest toll from militant violence in 2025. Following Sunday’s incidents, the provincial chief minister condemned the attacks and expressed condolences to the bereaved families, while the KP governor sought reports from relevant authorities and called for stronger focus on restoring peace and public security.
