FIA opens pre-departure help desks after offloading complaints

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Sunday that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched “Pre-Departure Facilitation Desks” to support passengers travelling abroad and reduce complaints linked to offloading.

According to Naqvi, the desks are meant to guide international travellers through immigration procedures and clearances to make the process smoother and less stressful. He said the service can be accessed in person and is also available through helplines and email, with details to be displayed at airports, border points and on the FIA’s platforms.

Naqvi shared the announcement on X, describing the rollout as immediate and nationwide:

The move follows recurring public concern and online chatter about passengers being removed from flights. In recent months, the government has tightened measures against human smuggling and illegal migration, while the FIA has maintained that travellers with complete and valid documentation are facilitated. The agency has said that those stopped typically face profiling due to suspected irregularities or attempts to travel through unlawful means.

Separately, the prime minister has previously instructed officials to ensure that legitimate travellers are not inconvenienced while enforcement action continues against illegal travel and document abuse. Authorities have also called for better coordination among relevant departments to help those going abroad legally for employment and other lawful purposes.
