Pakistan's security forces killed four militants during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan's Kalat district, the military's media wing said Sunday. The suspects were described as members of an India-linked proxy network.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops engaged the hideout after receiving actionable information. An exchange of fire ensued, leaving four fighters dead. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were seized at the site, the statement added.
The forces are continuing area sanitisation to track any remaining accomplices. ISPR said operations under the "Azm-e-Istehkam" counter-terrorism drive will proceed at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored militancy.
The action follows a similar operation a day earlier in Panjgur, also in Balochistan, amid an uptick in attacks in the province and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Afghan authorities to prevent cross-border threats.
