Imran Khan’s sisters staged a sit-in near Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail after prison authorities again refused a scheduled family meeting with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder. Police stopped Aleema, Noreen and Uzma at the Factory checkpoint, telling them visiting hours had ended.

Aleema urged party workers to stay calm, saying police were “under pressure,” while insisting the family has sought only lawful visitation for weeks. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan joined the protest, calling access to the incarcerated former prime minister a legal right recognised by court orders.

Security around the facility remained tight under Section 144, with more than a thousand officers deployed and commercial and educational activity restricted across the adjoining zone. The road leading to the jail stayed sealed amid a heavy police presence.

PTI leaders including Asad Qaiser condemned the refusal as unlawful and argued that shutting out family and lawyers further inflames tensions. They maintained that dialogue and due process are needed to cool the political temperature rather than bans or blanket restrictions on meetings.

The dispute over visitation has repeatedly triggered protests outside Adiala in recent weeks, including a marathon sit-in by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister last month. Authorities have since imposed a comprehensive bar on meetings with the PTI founder, deepening the standoff between the government and Khan’s party.
