KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari accused the federal government of trying to reclaim powers devolved to provinces under the 18th Amendment, specifically in education and population welfare.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) unit, he warned that any move to undermine Sindh’s authority would face resistance. He contrasted healthcare before and after devolution, arguing that the transfer of powers improved services and must be protected.
Bilawal cited past attempts to take back federally run institutions such as the NICVD and criticised aspects of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s health card model, alleging a shift of public funds to private hospitals. He challenged the Centre and KP to share 15-year performance records on population planning, saying Sindh would make its data public as well.
