The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced it will hold a protest outside the Islamabad High Court on December 2 over the continued refusal to allow a meeting with party founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Adeel Iqbal said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has summoned a parliamentary committee meeting to finalise strategy.
The development follows multiple unsuccessful attempts by Afridi to secure a one-on-one meeting with Khan, including a 16-hour sit-in on Adiala Road earlier in the week. A contempt plea was also filed against the jail superintendent for allegedly not implementing a prior court order on meetings.
State Minister for Law Aqeel Malik indicated on television that authorities could permit a limited meeting next week, citing security considerations. PTI vowed to respond to any “unlawful actions” as it presses for access to its incarcerated leader.
