Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is considering a “last option” to secure a one-on-one meeting with party founder Imran Khan inside Adiala jail, amid rumours about Khan’s health. Speaking near a police checkpoint in Rawalpindi, he argued that earlier legal and political avenues had been exhausted.
The jail administration rebutted speculation, saying Khan remains in Adiala, is in good health and is receiving medical care as needed. Afridi, meanwhile, alleged the federal government was involved in massive corruption and urged journalists to scrutinise what he cast as public losses.
He also described a recent IMF report on governance as a charge sheet against the government, and dismissed the notion that PTI had agreed to talks with the ruling coalition. Citing the party’s by-election boycott, he claimed low turnout signalled solidarity with Khan. Video from the area showed him pressing a station house officer on why access for a meeting was still being denied.
