Security forces killed at least 23 militants described as being linked to an India-backed network during two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said. The raids were conducted in Bajaur and Bannu districts following reports about the presence of armed fighters.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 11 militants — including alleged ringleader Sajjad alias Abuzar — were eliminated in Bajaur when troops engaged their positions. A second action in Bannu neutralised 12 more. Follow-up sanitisation drives are under way to track any remaining suspects in the areas, the statement added.
ISPR further reported a separate incident in Bannu in which a militant was killed while attempting to plant an improvised explosive device. The military said the operations form part of the ongoing ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ campaign to dismantle foreign-sponsored terror networks.
The update comes amid an uptick in violence across Pakistan’s northwest, where security agencies say they are targeting cells involved in recent attacks, including the Islamabad Judicial Complex bombing earlier in November that left multiple people dead and dozens injured.
