ISPR: Three militants, including two Afghans, killed in KP raids

Pakistan’s military reported that three militants were killed in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with two of the slain identified as Afghan nationals. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the actions took place in North Waziristan’s Esham area and in Tank district as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

According to the ISPR, troops intercepted a group attempting to infiltrate from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan and engaged them, resulting in fatalities. In a separate intelligence-based raid in Tank, another suspected militant was neutralised. The military said one of the dead had been serving with Afghanistan’s Border Police, while another was identified by his alias, Abu Dajana.

The army maintained that the incidents underscored continued cross-border involvement in terror activity and reiterated calls for the interim Afghan authorities to ensure effective border controls and prevent the use of Afghan soil for attacks inside Pakistan. Sanitisation operations were initiated to clear the areas and prevent further movement.

Security forces vowed to press ahead under the government-backed Azm-e-Istehkam campaign to eliminate armed groups and their facilitators. Islamabad and Kabul, which recently extended a ceasefire after talks in Istanbul, are due to discuss operational details of a monitoring and verification framework later this week.
