Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's new 10-member cabinet took oath at the Governor's House in Peshawar, with Governor Faisal Karim Kundi administering the ceremony. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi finalised the lineup after earlier being denied permission multiple times to meet jailed PTI founder Imran Khan for guidance.
Ministers sworn in include Mina Khan, Fazal Shakoor, Faisal Turkai, Aaqibullah, Arshad Ayub Khan, Aftab Alam, Dr Amjad, Khaliq-ur-Rehman, Riaz Khan and Syed Fakhar Jehan. Portfolios will be announced later. Muzammil Aslam and Taj Muhammad Tarand were appointed advisers, while Shafeeullah Jan was named special assistant.
Officials highlighted that Afridi's cabinet is markedly leaner than the one led by his predecessor Ali Amin Gandapur, which had expanded to 33 before being trimmed. Afridi assumed office after securing 90 votes in a session boycotted by rival parties.
The new provincial team is expected to set priorities once portfolios are assigned, as the administration moves to stabilise governance and respond to persistent political and security challenges in the province.
