Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Riyadh on Monday to attend the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII9), following an invitation from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. A high-level delegation is accompanying him, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and special assistants Tariq Fatemi and Bilal bin Saqib.
According to the Foreign Office, the premier will use the forum to spotlight Pakistan’s investment potential and explore avenues of enhanced cooperation with Saudi Arabia in trade, investment, energy and human resource development. This year’s FII carries the theme “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth,” with sessions expected to focus on innovation, sustainability, economic inclusion and geopolitical trends.
On the sidelines, Shehbaz is scheduled to meet Saudi leaders and engage with visiting heads of state and multilateral organisations to expand partnerships in areas aligned with Pakistan’s economic diplomacy agenda. Islamabad says the visit is part of ongoing efforts to deepen ties with Riyadh after a series of agreements over the past year, including defence understandings intended to broaden cooperation beyond traditional sectors.
