Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said Friday that the senior leadership of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan has gone underground following recent violence but will be apprehended soon. Speaking on a current affairs programme, she argued the group operates as an extremist mindset rather than a conventional political party, accusing it of using street pressure to dictate terms to the state.
Bukhari claimed law-enforcement agencies are actively tracing the leadership outside the province and expressed confidence of imminent arrests. She added that recent dialogue with the group did not centre on Gaza or Palestine, but on demands such as the return of confiscated valuables and compensation for march-related expenses. Her remarks came a day after the federal government approved a ban on TLP under the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Punjab government’s request, citing deadly unrest and injuries during protests.
