Polish DPM Sikorski lands in Pakistan for two-day visit, talks with Dar

Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski arrived in Pakistan for a two-day official trip at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. The visit, Sikorski’s second to Pakistan since 2011, includes one-on-one and delegation-level talks covering the full range of bilateral ties, followed by a joint media stake-out.

Dar praised the longstanding, friendly relationship with Warsaw and recalled historic links, including the shelter Pakistan provided to Polish refugees during World War II and the contributions of Polish air force veterans to the early Pakistan Air Force. He lauded Poland’s modern economic trajectory and recent elections, expressing hope for deeper cooperation.

Sikorski described the trip as both sentimental and official, noting that Islamabad and Warsaw have much to offer each other across political, economic, defence and educational spheres. According to the Foreign Office, bilateral trade reached about $922 million in 2023, with Pakistan’s exports at roughly $794 million and imports about $128 million.

Both sides previously reviewed ties during the 9th round of Bilateral Political Consultations in July and agreed to expand collaboration through high-level exchanges, parliamentary contacts and sectoral dialogue.
