Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the federal government would be willing to relocate imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail to his Bani Gala residence — provided the party files a formal application. Framing the offer as a goodwill gesture, he noted the former premier currently meets his family and lawyers without restrictions.
The minister added that any hurdles to meetings could be reviewed, and remarked that if shifted, Khan would be able to receive visitors and spend his time as he prefers. He also claimed that exercise equipment has been provided to the incarcerated politician.
The proposal immediately drew pushback. Former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar argued on-air that neither the federal government nor Punjab authorities have the legal mandate to move Khan out of prison, contending that such a request would ultimately be referred back to Rawalpindi officials.
Within PTI circles, the suggestion was dismissed. Party representatives indicated no application would be submitted, reiterating that Khan seeks lawful prisoner rights rather than any arrangement that could be construed as a political “deal.”
