A Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court on Monday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, in a case stemming from the party’s November 26, 2024 protest. Presided over by Judge Amjad Ali Shah, the court ordered police to produce her on October 22 after noting her continued absence from proceedings.
The court was informed that Aleema and several others had been indicted in the Sadiqabad Police Station case linked to the protest. According to the order, 10 other accused appeared before the court, and five prosecution witnesses recorded statements. The court also issued a non-bailable warrant for Aleema’s guarantor, Umer Sharif, and directed the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner to verify the property documents submitted by him.
The November 26 protest was organised to press for Imran Khan’s release. The demonstrations ended after violent clashes with law enforcers, resulting in the martyrdom of at least three Rangers personnel and a policeman. Imran Khan, ousted via a no-confidence vote in April 2022, has faced multiple cases ranging from corruption to terrorism and has been incarcerated since August 2023.
