ISPR: 15–20 Taliban killed as Spin Boldak assault repelled

Pakistan’s military said its forces defeated an unprovoked Afghan Taliban attack launched at four locations in Balochistan’s Spin Boldak area, killing between 15 and 20 assailants and injuring others. ISPR said the hostile fire was routed through divided villages without regard for civilians and included the destruction of the Pak-Afghan Friendship Gate on the Afghan side.

The statement added that the situation remained fluid, with signs of further build-ups at staging points used by the Afghan Taliban and their allied “Fitna al-Khawarij” elements. ISPR also linked the clash to overnight attempts on October 14–15 to target Pakistani posts in the Kurram sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the military, Pakistan’s proportionate response in Kurram destroyed eight Afghan posts, including six tanks, with an estimated 25–30 enemy fighters killed. The army said the same networks have been relying on disinformation to claim battlefield gains, asserting that social-media videos purporting to show captured Pakistani equipment were false.

Security sources later indicated that the Afghan Taliban requested a ceasefire following Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes in the Spin Boldak–Chaman corridor, where multiple militant positions, personnel and armour were engaged. They said fabricated footage was circulated to obscure losses and mislead audiences.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the provocations and paid tribute to the forces for thwarting attacks in Kurram. Pakistan has reiterated that Afghan territory must not be used for cross-border terrorism and that any acts of aggression will be answered decisively.
