Pakistan Army warns India: Provocative rhetoric risks 'cataclysmic' fallout

Pakistan’s military cautioned on Saturday that recent provocative and jingoistic remarks from senior Indian security officials risk fabricating pretexts for aggression and could unleash “cataclysmic devastation” across the region. In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said such rhetoric signals a renewed attempt to justify escalation, warning it would carry serious consequences for peace and stability in South Asia. The warning follows claims by India’s air force chief that five Pakistani fighter jets were downed during the intense confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours in May. Pakistan dismissed the assertion as unsupported by evidence and said India’s long-standing portrayal of itself as a victim has been undermined by its own conduct. Recalling the May hostilities—sparked after an attack on tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir—the military underscored that Pakistan’s response under Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos shattered myths of geographic immunity and demonstrated the capacity to strike deep inside enemy territory. The ISPR said Pakistan would not hold back in the face of any future provocation and vowed a swift, decisive and destructive response should conflict be forced upon the country.
