Five members of the same family were found dead on Tuesday inside a locked one-room apartment in Karachi’s Bin Qasim Town, prompting senior provincial authorities to order a detailed investigation into the incident.

Police said the bodies were discovered in an apartment in Gulshan-i-Falaknaz Block J. According to Bin Qasim SHO Faisal Rafiq, the deceased included a middle-aged couple, their two young daughters, both under the age of six, and the husband’s sister, who was in her early twenties.

Initial information shared by police indicated that the apartment had been locked from the inside when the bodies were found. Investigators also recovered a pistol from the scene, while the couple was reported to have sustained fatal injuries. Authorities have not yet announced a final conclusion on the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Rescue officials shifted the bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. Police are expected to rely on post-mortem findings, forensic analysis and evidence collected from the apartment to determine how the deaths occurred and whether any criminal element was involved.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar took notice of the case and sought details from the Malir senior superintendent of police. He directed investigators to examine all possible angles and ensure that the facts and motive behind the incident are brought forward.

The home minister also instructed police to identify anyone involved if evidence points to a crime and to proceed according to law. He asked officials to keep him informed about progress in the investigation as the case develops.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho separately sought a detailed report from the east deputy inspector general. He directed officers to conduct a transparent and impartial inquiry, collect evidence immediately and complete all legal requirements, including forensic examination.

The case has drawn attention because it comes soon after another incident in Karachi in which a doctor, his wife and their three young daughters were found dead inside an apartment in Scheme 33. Police had formed a high-level body to investigate that matter, adding to public concern over repeated family death cases in the city.
